Grunge is one of the most desired styles on Stardoll today, as more and more USA Covergirls are seen sporting heavy coats, chains, and distressed denim.

So what is grunge, exactly?

That question depends on who you're asking. The definition of grunge has changed drastically since it's creator began pioneering the style in the early nineties. Since then, it has spiraled into several arguably pretentious sub categories such as soft grunge and cyber grunge.

Grunge is a style that differs from punk and goth and slides into more comfort oriented clothing choices - not quite outrageous styles that may come to mind at the mention of the word. Ultimately grunge as a style only emerged after the popularization of grunge as a music genre.

For this post, I've decided to emulate the spirit of grunge using pictures of Drew Barrymore and Agyness Deyn as references.

What I wanted to do was capture the most of grunge and one softer sub category through Stardoll outfits.

So here we are with our two grunge outfits.

For the first outfit, I began creating something not quite true grunge, but grunge with a little bit of an elegant twist applied to it. I used and mixed brands such as Chanel, with the ripped wool coat, and Evil Panda for the stockings.

This second outfit is from the closet of user hungergames517 and is already sticking truer to grunge with acid washed jeans and trash boots from Nelly. The tattoos and messy hair add an extra grunge effect.

Do you think grunge is making a comeback? Or should it stay in the past?
