How to be a Basic Bitch
4:50 PMYou've probably heard that in your life a few times by now, knowing that it's pop culture's latest trend for girls to demean other girls by calling them 'basic bitches.' With this in mind, a basic bitch is usually someone who conforms to a stereotyped style whether it be 'basic girl grunge', 'starbucks & yoga pants' or literally anything else seen as typical.
I for one, love being a basic bitch and am ready to totally turn this word around and reclaim it...so here's 5 steps on how to be the perfect basic bitch.
1. Unapologetically be yourself.
Do you want to wear a flannel and ripped jeans, yoga pants and a PINK shirt, maybe a kimono and lace bralette? Do it. Do you love pumpkin spice lattes or frappucinos? Drink 'em. Do whatever you want.
2. Embrace your sexuality.
A lot of people think it's 'just trendy right now to be LGBT.' Fuck that, honestly. Bi girls are being written as basic bitches on almost every social media platform, so embrace everything you have to offer.
3. Act the part.
You don't have to be an emmy award winning actress for this. Speak with confidence and with full affirmation that you know what you want to say. Don't apologize. Verbalize your opinions.
4. Look the part.
Spend your money on lux brands, follow the trends, wear your flannel, put on a flower crown - just do what you want with your look, someone's bound to deem you a 'basic bitch' no matter what.
5. Take selfies. Constantly.
Feel ya'self! Know you look good, and work! Post them on your social medias, or don't. Just remind yourself how beautiful you are. When did confidence become a crime?
Of course this article would never be complete without some #BasicBitch outfits to showcase.

For these two basic bitch outfits, I decided to go with the 'Wannabe Grunger' and 'Coachella Hoe.' The wannabe grunger is consisted of distressed white shorts, platforms, a crop top, and of course - a tied flannel around the waist. This is personally my favorite basic bitch outfit, because this started as a trend for girls to express themselves and feel part of a community, but it's been reduced to teenage girls being mocked for trying to dress grunge and trendy at the same time. For Coachella Hoe, I added a floor length kimono to a sheer top and high waist shorts. Girls are often mocked at Coachella for 'trying to hard' to look indie...which is a little ridiculous. I personally love both of these outfits because they are both so unapologetically basic that it might make someone feel angry! No matter what, just remember to stay basic.
